Senior takes research trip to Northern Ireland

In August, Maura Wester, ’19, traveled to Belfast to conduct research for her history honors thesis on the murals of Belfast. Maura is studying murals made by Protestant and Catholic militants during the civil war of the 1960s, 70s, and 80s, particularly how each side used historical symbols and events to galvanize support, and how mural-making has changed since the onset of the peace process. Her on-site research in Belfast was made possible through PC’s Small Grants Program, and her faculty adviser is Dr. Darra Mulderry.
