Philip Piscopo ’21, Accepted in the Master of Studies in Late Antique and Byzantine Studies Program at the University of Oxford

When I came to PC as a freshman, my goal was to graduate, pursue a PhD, and become a biology professor; it is funny how our goals can change so completely while also remaining the same! My goal now is to pursue a PhD and become a history or classics professor! Considering how much I had always loved history, it is hard to believe that I did not enter PC as a history major, but the department’s wonderful faculty members quickly helped me to realize that my academic home was to be found in the Department of History and Classics. It is now impossible to imagine what my college experience would have been like had I not switched my major to history and later added a Classics major as well. I owe so much to my wonderful professors and advisors, and I can confidently say that, without them, I would not be where I am today. I am so excited to study Late Antique and Byzantine Studies at Oxford next fall, but I know that I will never forget the profound impact that studying history and classics at Providence College has had on me.
