Departmental Honors

Each year, the Department of History and Classics awards four honors to graduating seniors. Each award reflects specific areas of excellence in overall undergraduate work.

  • Highest in Concentration — Awarded by the college
  • Cornelius P. Forster, O.P. Award — Academic excellence in undergraduate studies in the field of European History, awarded by the department.
  • Pell Award — Academic excellence in undergraduate studies in the field of American History, awarded by the department and Sen. Pell’s office.
  • Father Reilly History Award — Academic excellence in undergraduate studies in the field of History, awarded by the department.
  • Leroy D. Aaronson Award for Classics — Academic excellence in undergraduate studies in the field of Ancient Greek and Latin, awarded by the department.
  • Michael V. Metallo, Ph.D. Award — Academic excellence in undergraduate studies in the field of Global History. (est. 2024)
